EDITED 2.28.2009
I'm not satisfied with my opening entry, so I'm going to redo it. I already deleted a good part of it, but I've salvaged my list of firsts. New and improved entry to come.
EDITED 8.24.2009
I realized I'm too lazy to edit this entry. Enjoy the entry that makes no sense because I cut out half of it.
Anyways, this entry wasn't supposed to be about love, I'll touch upon that at a later time. I wanted to reminisce a bit about the past three years at Brigham Young University. I will be graduating in approximately a year and three months (not so approximate, really). BYU and I have always had a complex love/hate relationship, though lately I've been neutral than anything. I went to BYU for the wrong reasons but I'm beginning to see that even when your beginnings are wrong, your endings can be right. I want to end right; at peace with myself and at peace with the university that I have struggled to remain at for three years. For starters, I'd like to list all the opportunities I've had while attending BYU:
1. I learned to speak Chinese. White-washed no more...I've got a little Asian culture in me!
2. I went to China. This was the crowning moment of my college career. Standing on the Great Wall, letting the smells of autumn time in Beijing overtake me, being satisfied with knowing I had come full circle.
3. I met some of my best friends. You know who you are and you know why I love you.
4. I met that special someone.
5. I discovered Mormon culture, for better or for worse.
(more to come)
Some of my firsts while in college:
1. I went sledding.
2. I went snowboarding.
3. I hiked the Y mountain.
4. I did my laundry.
5. I cooked a legitimate meal; Harry can attest to this.
6. I cooked a pretty damn good tasting meal; Harry can also attest to this.
7. I went canoeing.
8. I went kayaking in the ocean.
9. I color coordinated and decorated my room.
10. I took on the job as a server.
11. I worked retail. (NEVER AGAIN!)
12. I competed in a Chinese speech competition.
13. I had a snowball fight.
14. I fishtailed my car.
15. I played beer pong, king's cup.
16. I had a toga party.
17. I had a mocktail party.
18. I played tennis like tennis should be played.
19. I played Rock Band, Guitar Hero.
(more to come!)
I also participated in some other illicit behavior that I will not post on a public blog for fear of repercussions.
Vivete, amate, ridete
LOVE,
JESSICA
